"Who Is Advancing Gender Equality in Europe? Gender Politics in the EU and Its Member States"

Including:
Eva Maria Welskop-Deffa (head of the Equal Opportunities Department in the German Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth), Nora Fuhrmann (University of Osnabrück), Brigitte Triems (German Women's Council and Executive Committee of the European Women's Lobby)

The panel discussion will focus on the various actors and levels of European women's politics and gender politics and how they interact. What are the different feminist, women's, and gender policy approaches, areas of interest, and responses with regard to continuing unequal treatment of woman and men, structural discrimination against women, and men's domination and claim to power in individual EU countries and institutions?

Local – National – European: We Are Shaping Gender-Fair Politics!
Fishbowl discussion on the question of how politics can be shaped in a gender-fair manner and what political concepts can produce long-term improvements in gender justice. In what political areas and on what levels should we start? What instruments and strategies are available? What possible allies do we have?

We will compile a list of political demands within the context of the German EU Council Presidency and the European Year of Equal Opportunities.
